Beweship outsourced ICT services to Elmo: “We value clarity and accessibility”

 

 

Oy Beweship Ab is a second-generation Finnish family business that offers a wide range of logistics services internationally. The company’s services include road transport, sea and air freight, forwarding, moving and project services, art logistics and warehousing. In addition to its offices in Finland, Beweship has its own companies in Estonia, Latvia and Poland. 

Elmo provides comprehensive ICT services to all Beweship units and manages the company’s terminals both in Finland and internationally. The cooperation has quickly grown into a strategic, global partnership.

 

Outsourcing basic IT opened the door to partnership

ICT outsourcing started in the fall of 2022, when Beweship wanted to centralize all its IT services to a single operator. Elmo took responsibility for the management and development of Beweship’s IT infrastructure, terminals and cloud services, as well as end-user support. Beweship also appointed its own AKA, or customer experience architect, in the outsourcing. 

It was important to us that in a problem situation we know who to reach out to. If we open a ticket, but don’t know who and when will handle the matter, the situation stands still. The decisive factor in choosing a service provider was Elmo’s personality and ease of contact, says the company’s Executive Vice President Juha Määttä.

New telecommunications network and new level of security

One of the largest individual projects of the collaboration was the modernization of the fixed and wireless telecommunications network of Beweship’s logistics center. In the renovation, the network was transferred to the management and supervision of Elmo. 

Technical information security was developed based on the Health Check survey and Elmo’s information security specifications. To ensure high-quality information security, Beweship also relied on Elmo’s expertise in administrative information security: an information security management system based on the ISO/IEC 27001 reference framework was created in just half a year. 

What kind of project and experience was the outsourcing of ICT, in all?

In the end, transferring the systems and specifying the settings of the IT environment to Elmo was easy and fast. The entire process took a few months to complete, and it did not require much work from us, Määttä says.
